Marvel Studios’ movie Blade — starring Mahershala Ali, was going to be directed by Bassam Tariq and filming was due to take place this November, leaving Mahershala rumoured to be frustrated with the project.
In a new article from THR, production has now been pushed back as Bassam Tariq has left the project as director, and will stay on as an executive producer instead.
According to THR, Marvel has already began to search for a new director.
Mahershala Ali is rumoured to be frustrated with the project, according to reporter Jeff Sneider. As the ‘script features exactly TWO (lackluster) action sequences. Mahershala said to be frustrated with the process’.
The movie is scheduled to release on November 3, 2023, however this could all change due to this delay. Update: the release date has now moved to September 6, 2024.
