In a surprise turn of events, Ben Affleck will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom movie; alongside Jason Momoa.
Ben Affleck mentioned that he had retired from the role of Batman in 2019. Robert Pattinson was then hired as a new iteration of The Batman instead of Affleck’s Solo movie being made.
There had also been a huge interest in bringing out the Synder Cut for the Justice League movie, at the time. The reception from this movie has likely sparked Ben Affleck’s interest in continuing his role; as he will also be starring in The Flash movie alongside Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton’s Batman.
The surprise of Ben Affleck returning for Aquaman 2, was abruptly revealed after fans were taking a studio tour over at the Warner Bros backlot and spotted Jason and Ben walking out from their trailers. Jason Momoa had no choice but to put the news on his instagram page.
Jason Momoa writes: “Reunited, Bruce and Arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j.”
It’s not explained how Bruce Wayne will fit into the plot just yet, he may not even be dressed up in his Batman suit. Arthur might visit him to make him the new Black comouflage Aquaman suit as shown in official images.

Michael Keaton in Aquaman 2?
Aquaman 2 was originally suppose to release after The Flash movie; which would see Michael Keaton’s Batman merge into the timeline replacing Affleck’s Batman, due to Barry Allen messing with time travel. Reportedly, Michael Keaton was seen in test screenings for Aquaman 2 and left audiences confused about why he is there. WB are now allegedly reshooting the scene with Ben Affleck instead.
