Christopher Lloyd has begun to tease that there is news coming for the popular 1980’s science-fiction time travel movie Back to the Future.
Could this be a sequel movie, a video game? There’s been three movies by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, as well as a successful musical for the franchise in London and broadway premiering in New York in 2023.
In two recent tweets, the actor who played the wild eyed scientist, Dr. Emmett Brown has been hinting at something ‘special’ coming.
Christopher Lloyd followed up, on the next day with another tweet:
The trilogy also starred Michael J. Fox, Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson and Thomas F. Wilson.
In May 2020, there was a Back to the Future reunion video arranged by Josh Gad (@22:00 minutes in), where Gad does ask Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale if they were to do a Back to the Future 4 movie:
Bob Gale said: “Well it would have to be that Doc and Marty find out that we’re thinking about making another Back to the Future movie and they come back to the stop us from doing such a crazy thing.”
Robert Zemeckis mentioned: “If I had an idea which I could have pitched to Bob with a straight face, we would have made it.”
In previous interviews, Zemeckis has openly been against a reboot of the franchise, as he said “That can’t happen until both Bob [Gale] and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”
All things seem like they could change and we may get see to Marty and the Doc reunite in a movie once again!
Update: The hype built up by Christopher Lloyd, have just turned out to be for a new Back to the Future shop website launching on November 10, where they will be selling physical merchandise/clothing.
