Marvel released the official trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and a brand new poster. There was also a new TV spot released during the Superbowl.
Here are the 11 moments that have been picked out for the trailer breakdown:
1. The Watch is a Key

The watch that Christine Palmer once gave Stephen Strange, is now used as a form of key to unlock specific realities. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) and Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) are all waiting for the door to open. However, it appears to be a trap.

This seems to be set in the same place where Defender Strange is with Chavez, Marvel’s editing team could be tricking people here as Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer were seen with Chavez before. Maybe they have filmed alternate scenes where it’s actually Defender Strange standing in that doorway!
2. Doorway opens to an ambush

America Chavez is caught by some unknown form; possibly a multiverse demon. Chavez open up a star shaped portal to the multiverse, pulling in Defender Strange with her. The first image was separated to another part of the trailer, however I found they easily matched due to the broken pillars with plant patterns on them and the background matches.
3. Dreams

Stephen Strange has been having these dreams… well, more like nightmares of other realities! About Defender Strange and America Chavez in a fight with something currently unknown. Defender Strange appears to be dead or severely injured as America Chavez transports them both to another universe.
4. The Nexus of all Realities

In the Disney+ series What if…? The Watcher resides in the point between all realities, called the Nexus. Scarlet Witch appears to be accessing this Nexus point to look for a certain universe. Could The Watcher show up in live action in this moment; to confront Scarlet Witch?
Edit: A few people have responded to my article about the first image possibly being a prison or a mirror dimension instead of the Nexus point.
5. Captain Carter comes to live-action

Captain Carter is coming to live action, as previously reported in another Chatter Box Film article, likely from the Disney+ series What if…? As seen in the Doctor Strange 2 in the Multiverse of Madness poster. The What if..? Version was a part of the Guardian’s of the Multiverse, to help The Watcher trap Ultron. This Captain Carter variant is likely helping The Illuminati instead.
6. Scarlet Witch meets Wanda

Scarlet Witch is in despair as she interacts with another Wanda Maximoff variant. It’s unclear why she is visiting another timeline where she experiences heartbreak again. This is set in the WandaVision house.
7. Animated Reality

Doctor Strange and America Chavez become animated while falling through the multiverse. This could be any number of Marvel’s animated series: Spider-Man (1967), X-Men (1992), The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (2010), The Marvel Superheroes (1966).
8. Captured by The Illuminati

Strange and America Chavez are captured by the Illuminati. These appear to be Ultron bots from where a Superior Tony Stark/Iron Man variant has finally perfected these bots, instead of what happened in Age of Ultron.
Fun-fact: The Illuminati Headquarters location is based on and filmed in London, at the British Museum, just altered with CGI.

This is very suprising, that Mavel Studios revealed this in the trailer! Doctor Strange is brought to where Charles Xavier aka Professor X is, played by Patrick Stewart. There are mysterious members of the Illuminati sitting beside Professor X. In the comics, these other members mainly consisted of Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, Captain Britain, Black Panther, Iron Man and Namor etc.
Professor X mentions to the members: “We should tell him the truth!” The YouTube channel New Rockstars has a theory @16:56, that the MCU reality we have been watching all of these years is not the core reality of the multiverse. The MCU could be in a post House of M reality. This is where the mutants have been erased in a timeline that Wanda says “No More Mutants“.
9. Wanda attacks the Illuminati Headquarters

Wanda breaks into the Illuminati Headquarters, looking for someone. As you may know; America Chavez has the ability to travel the multiverse and Wanda needs her to accomplish her goals of finding her children. In the TV Spot, the camera zooms into Wanda’s eye, as she is looking at America Chavez in the glass prison.
Allegedly, the superhero defending The Illuminati Headquarters, is Captain Marvel. As this is a different universe, the variant appears Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau this time. This means that Maria Rambeau is likely one of the members are alongside Professor X.
Wanda is covered in blood, and this indicates that she may have already killed a few heroes or injured them. It’s not clear which other goals Wanda may have yet, maybe to control or destroy all other realities except one?
10. Superior Doctor Strange?

This is likely set in a timeline where a Superior Doctor Strange was heralded as the hero; for saving everyone from Thanos instead of Tony Stark.
11. Dead Defender Strange

This dead version of Strange is very similar to the wounded Defender Strange from earlier, they share the same scars on their face.
Allegedly, Doctor Strange astral projects himself into his dead variant, to be able to access another universe. Sam Raimi handles the Horror genre well, as he is also known for the Evil Dead franchise and among many others.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 6.
