Patty Jenkins has been the director for two Wonder Woman movies by Warner Bros. Pictures, and there would have also been a third movie.
In 2020, Jenkins was also announced to direct a Star Wars project called Rogue Squadron, and there is still no clear sign of this being made.
Recently information began to spread regarding the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 in it’s current form, and articles from The Wrap, who were the first to report on this news, claimed that ‘Warner Bros didn’t cancel Wonder Woman 3, Patty walked off the project’.
Now, Patty Jenkins has cleared up all of these rumours in a lengthy statement; regarding the ‘clickbait false story’ on her career matters.
Patty Jenkins’ quote
‘Sigh… I’m not one to talk about private career matters, but I will not allow inaccuracies to continue. Here are the facts:

I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn’t happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further. When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do, so I agreed. They made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don’t know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead.
When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so understand these decisions are difficult right now.’
It’s possible there could be a completely re-written Wonder Woman movie with a different director, in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe; where Gal Gadot still plays the titular character. However, Gunn and Safran have yet to announce their extensively mapped out plans.
All that is known so far; is that James Gunn wants nearly all of the DC content to be unified and cohesive across live-action & animated film/tv/games apart from Joker and The Batman being separate. Superman is also still a major priority.
This likely isn’t the last of Wonder Woman appearing, as Gal Gadot is reportedly in The Flash movie – set to release on June 16, 2023.
