Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night special presentation is in Black and White, and inspired by 1930s and 1940s horror films, for a darker Marvel universe.
This special is being directed by Michael Giacchino who composed the soundtracks for blockbuster movies such as Mission Impossible III, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Spider-Man: Homecoming & Far From Home.
Synopsis
On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.
Here are some of the reactions, that are now in for Marvel’s 53 minute long special; being described as ‘mesmerizing’ and TJ Zwarych from Agents Of Fandom also writes ‘the story captivated me’.
Tessa Smith from movie site Mama’s Geeky write that Werewolf by Night ‘is a love letter to classic horror films with a sprinkling of Marvel had me grinning from ear to ear’.
Josh Jones from StreamrNews mentions ‘it’s great horror, laughs‘ and notes of the score as ‘spine-chilling‘.
There also further praise for Michael Giacchino’s directorial work, this reaction from Matt Rorabeck (Untitled Movie Podcast) states that ‘Giacchino completely commits to aesthetic with all the camp, violence and style you could ask for‘.
