In the final season of The Flash starring Grant Gustin; a villain that fans have been asking to show up for a while now, has just appeared on set, and it’s also been revealed who is playing the character.
Red Death has been teased since season 5 episode 12; in an episode where Barry taps into his future daughter’s mind, and stumbles upon a mention of this villain that he is yet to face. On the TV screen, Captain Singh says: “Flash did everything he could, but Cicada killed more people than Zoom, or even the Red Death!”

In Downtown Vancouver, near Queen Elizabeth Theatre, filming was taking place for the show on Saturday 22nd October.
These images reveal that Javicia Leslie from the CW show Batwoman, will play Red Death.
Who is Red Death?
In the comics, the character is essentially an evil Bruce Wayne merged Barry Allen; after Batman traps the speedster in the speedforce and fuses them both together, he becomes a menacing Red Death. The character also kills his own Rogues Gallery of villains.
In this case, due to the Batman character IP stil not being permitted for live-action TV, the CW has used a version of Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) that has fused with another speedster instead.
There also more images taken by Canadagraphs, and reveals that returning actor, Paul Anthony was on set, and he reprises his role as Rainbow Raider/Roy G. Bivolo again. Red Death and this character are likely teaming up.
According to Canadagraphs, all of these images appear to be from episode 3 or 4 of season 9.
The Flash season 9 will only have 13 episodes, Grant Gustin shared his comments about the final season.
