There is a rebooted series of Quantum Leap, streaming on Peacock, on September 19.
This show is taking place 30 years after the original events that once starred Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett. In this article, there will be a slight trailer breakdown and Scott Bakula addressing rumours of his involvement.
This series also has a new lead, Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Seong. Ben is the next leaper, trying to understand what went wrong with original experiment by setting it up all over again, and it goes wrong just like it did for Sam. Causing Ben to leap into people’s bodies.
In the original series, the time travel would be within Sam’s own lifetime, (this may change in the reboot). A leaper has to put events right, that once went wrong, resulting in improving people’s lives for the better.
Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) stars as Herbert Magic Williams (the head of the time travel program) and Mason Alexander Park is also featured in future scenes as Ben’s colleague Ian Wright.
Official Trailer
The trailer that garnered 11 million views on Youtube has since been made private by NBC, so here is that same trailer posted by IGN.
Observing directly from the trailer, there’s a dynamic shift between Ben’s version of Al. This time, Addison is struck between being in an intimate romantic relationship with Ben, and trying to guide him as a hologram on this chaotic time adventure. There also seems to be more scenes involving the future, compared to the original, that has rarely been shown before.
Is Scott Bakula in the new Quantum Leap?
Fans were hoping to see Scott Bakula return in the reboot, and will be disappointed, as he mentions in an instagram post that he is ‘in an effort to quiet the rumours and move on‘ and has ‘no connection with the new show, either in front of the camera or behind it.‘
The studio approached Scott Bakula, with a pilot episode written and then he writes; “how could you could do QL without Sam?” (or Al, for that matter) Well, I guess we’re about to find out.‘
Further on, in the post, Bakula wishes the new cast good luck; ‘I am crossing my fingers that this new cast and crew are lucky enough to tap into the magic that propelled the original Quantum Leap into the hearts and minds of generations past and present. I wish them good luck and happy leaping!’
