I was invited to view the home premiere of Shazam! Fury of the Gods courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. Here’s our feature article recapping the highlights of the sequel and the dates for the digital release.
In this sequel, the Shazam family take on new threats, as they come up against the daughters of Atlas, in addition to dealing with being a super-powered team.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is an all-round entertaining family superhero film, directed by David F. Sandberg.
Jack Dylan Grazer really shines the most in this sequel as Freddy Freeman as he brings a lot of humour and heart to the role, alongside plenty of fun scenes with Djimon Hounsou. Asher Angel delivered some strong emotional scenes, whenever he would finally show up on-screen. Grace Caroline Currey does well to embrace a new part of the role as Super Hero Mary.
I also loved most of the CG flight scenes and the creature character designs are superb.
There’s brilliant superhero scores composed by Christophe Beck, and I’m hoping that Beck will be creating music for more movies, that will now be set in the DCU.
Hopefully, there’s a future for these actors playing their characters in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe plans.
This DC film has arrived on premium digital ownership/rental, April 28.
Check out our full review of the film, from seeing it in IMAX, back in March.
