On September 8, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her Summer home in Balmoral Castle.
A date for the funeral has also been arranged for The Royal Family; to be on Monday September 19. The Queen lying-in state will end at 6:30 AM, and then at 10:44, a procession takes place where the coffin is taken from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey. The state funeral will then begin at 11:00.
Quite a few companies, as well as cinemas such as Cineworld, Premier Cinemas, ODEON have all chosen to remain closed for the day of the funeral. However, UK cinema chain VUE have sent out a statement online, detailing their cinemas will be open to show a live broadcast of the funeral.
Here is the statement from Vue Cinema with the information:
We will be screening the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in selected UK venues* on Monday, 19 September, live from 10am. Seats will be free of charge and our retail offering on this day will be limited to complimentary bottled water during the broadcast, with no other snacks or drinks available for purchase. On this day we will not be showing our normal programme of films.
