Warner Bros. is working on a Willy Wonka origin movie – starring Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Olivia Coleman and Rowan Atkinson. This article does contain spoilers.
There has been three credit listings, for extras cast as Mourners and Funeral Guest. This suggests that there could be a funeral scene at some point during the movie.

Who could they be mourning?
This part is my speculation that, Willy Wonka could be attending one of his parent’s funeral (likely Wilbur Wonka), and this upsetting moment could be what makes Wonka feel like he needs to escape on an adventure; to later stumble upon the Oompa Loompas and open his world-famous Chocolate Factory.
Update March 28, 2022: Anthony Flagg, a writer for MyCosmicCircus has mentioned to me, it is actually Wonka’s mother who passes away.
Release date
There was also news earlier this month, that Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet has been delayed from March 17, 2023 to December 15, 2023.
