New Doctor Who companion: Who is Millie Gibson?

Millie Gibson is Ruby Sunday in Doctor Who

On November 18, during the live fundraising event Children in Need, a new Doctor Who companion was revealed to be actress Millie Gibson.

Millie Gibson is an 18 year old English actress, best known for her role in the long-running British TV Soap series Coronation Street; as Kelly Neelan. Gibson also won Best Young Performer at the British Soaps Awards.

During November 2023, Gibson will be starring as a new companion called Ruby Sunday, alongside Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor, and they will both be making their debut during the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who.

The three episode event will also star David Tennant, with returning companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), Neil Patrick Harris, Yasmin Finney, Bernard Cribbins and Jacqueline King.

Upon revealing the announcement, the audience reacted positively with a loud applause and Millie was also asked about her thoughts on being chosen as the next companion.

“It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me”

Now, with the reach of the upcoming series being increased by streaming platform Disney Plus; for audiences outside of UK and Ireland. There will also be a higher production value for fans to get the most out of season 14.
