Following the release of DreamWorks Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in the US, Canada and more territories. The sequel voiced by Antonio Banderas, has now reached $297 million at the worldwide box office.

Etalk Eddie Murphy interview
In an interview with etalk Canada, Eddie Murphy was asked if he would come back for Shrek 5 and Murphy also went to say that he would like a movie based on his popular character from Shrek called Donkey.
Oh I would absolutely be open, if they ever came with another Shrek, I would do it in two seconds… I love Donkey. I wish they would, they did Puss in Boots movies… they should have did a donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I love Puss in Boots but he ain’t as funny as Donkey.
Eddie Murphy interview with etalk
There are no new details for Shrek 5 or a new spin-off. The fifth Shrek movie was reportedly going to release in 2019, however, this never moved forward. Maybe someday Eddie Murphy will also get his wish for a Donkey spin-off movie.
Beverly Hills Cop 4
Eddie Murphy is currently working on another sequel, this one is for his much loved action franchise Beverly Hills Cop.
The movie is to be released by Netflix, titled; Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Directed by Mark Malloy and a screenplay being written by Will Beal (Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Aquaman).
The cast features reprising actors: Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot. There are also actors joining the original cast members, including Joseph Gorden-Levitt, Kevin Bacon and Taylour Paige.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 doesn’t currently have a release date, and is stated as ‘coming soon’. Update February 2, 2024: the movie releases on Netflix, July 3, 2024.
When will Shrek 5 release?
In a July 9, 2024 update to this article, Shrek 5 is scheduled to release on July 1, 2026.
