Talitha Wing and Robert Carlyle

An official synopsis, first-look images and trailer has been revealed for The Full Monty; a sequel in the form of a series, to the BAFTA-award-winning 1997 movie with the same name – starring Robert Carlyle and Mark Addy.

There will be 8 episodes in this series created, written and executively produced by Simon Beaufoy, Alice Nutter and produced by Simon Lewis.

Following on 25 years later, since they once were cheered on, as a couple of out-of-work lads turned male strippers in Sheffield.

Official synopsis

‘Taking place 25 years after the original British smash hit, the 8×60’ series will follow the same band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield, and society’s crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors. The comedy-drama will uncover what happened to the gang after they put their kit back on, exploring their brighter, sillier and more desperate moments. It will also highlight how the fiercely funny world of these working-class heroes – still residing in Sheffield – has changed in the intervening decades.’

Most of the original actors are reprising their roles: Robert Carlyle as Gaz, Mark Addy as Dave, Lesley Sharp as Jean, Hugo Speer as Guy, Paul Barber as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, Wim Snape as Nathan, and Tom Wilkinson as Gerald.

Also introducing Talitha Wing as Gaz’ teenage daughter; Destiny Schofield. In the movie, Gaz also has a son called Nathan, who has now grown up to be a police officer in the series.

Disney+ has now revealed the first look images and trailer for The Full Monty series.
