Chatter Box Film

Disney has delayed six Marvel movies in their line-up, as well as the release dates for Star Wars, and Avatar franchise movies.

It always seemed far too ambitious to have so many Marvel and Avatar movies coming out so closely together, especially the major events that will be two new Avengers films as well.

In addition to this, the on-going writer’s strike, that has slowed down, and or even paused projects such as Thunderbolts.

Here are the full list of new release dates:

Marvel Cinematic Universe releases

Deadpool and Wolverine

Deadpool and Wolverine will be directed by Shawn Levy is releasing on July 26, 2024. Update: check out our breakdown for the official teaser trailer.

Captain America: Brave New World

Previously dated for May 3, 2024, this title has now taken the place Thunderbolts date, by moving to February 14, 2025. Captain America: New World Order was also the previous title, before it was changed to Brave New World instead.

Thunderbolts

Previously dated for July 26, 2024, this title has now been moved to May 2, 2025.

Blade

Previously dated for September 6, 2024, this title has now been moved into the next year, on November 7, 2025. Update: No longer a date for release; the production has been put on hold by Marvel.

Fantastic Four

Previously dated for February 14, 2025, this title has now been moved to July 25, 2025.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Both Avengers films get a 1 year delay.

Previously dated for May 2, 2025, this title has now been moved to May 1, 2026.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Previously dated for May 1, 2026, this title has now been moved to May 7, 2027.

Star Wars franchise

There are three films currently set to release, however the names and premises have yet to be revealed, apart from a new timeline that the stories will take place in.

First untitled Star Wars film

There is finally a date for the first untitled Star Wars film set to release on December 18, 2026.

Second untitled Star Wars film

This second film has been delayed from December 19, 2025, to a new date on May 22, 2026.

Third untitled Star Wars film

The third film will be set for December 17, 2027.

Avatar franchise

These sequels will become more spaced out again in terms of release dates.

Avatar 3

Previously dated for December 20, 2024, this title has now been moved to December 19, 2025.

Avatar 4

Previously dated for December 18, 2026, this title has now been moved by three years to December 21, 2029.

Avatar 5

This fifth installment was once releasing on December 22, 2028, however, the date has now changed to December 19, 2031.

Other Disney films

Disney also has dates for the new Alien film – directed Fede Alvez, to be released on: August 16, 2024 and live-action Moana film that’s currently in the works to release on June 27, 2025.
