David Tennant is set to return as The Fourteenth Doctor, for the BBC’s televised charity event: Children in Need.

This will be an exclusive scene, rather than the usual comedy skits that are filmed in previous years.

Russell T. Davies mentions on his Instagram page about the upcoming 5-minute scene:

‘The Doctor! Daleks! Skaro! This Friday as part of Children in Need, starring, amongst others, David Tennant and Mawaan Rizwan not a comedy skit, a fully scored and FX’d five-minute scene, produced by scott Handcock and directed by Jamie Donoughue, music by Murrary Gold.’

In this newly released image, the BBC reveals David Tennant as The Doctor; standing infront of what appears to be a broken Dalek, or one being built, while a TARDIS is parked behind him.

Alongside this announcement, there was a second photo released of a character in uniform holding a tablet device played Mawaan Rizwan.

Who could Mawaan Rizwan be playing in Doctor Who?

In 1975, a character called Nyder appeared (played Peter Miles), in Genesis of the Daleks. Nyder worked as a Security Commander to Davros; the leader and creator of the Daleks.

Paired with this scene taking place on Skaro, and those signature symbols on both of their collars, this could suggest that Mawaan Rizwan is playing a new iteration of Nyder, a relative of the character or another character who has replaced him to work in this uniform.

When is Children in Need 2023?

The Doctor Who scene will be airing some time during the Children in Need event, this Friday November 17, at 7pm, on BBC One.

David Tennant will be also be back alongside Catherine Tate for the 60th anniversary specials, beginning on November 25. See all of the episode images, release dates and times here.
