According to Deadline and mutliple other trades such as Variety and THR, Nicholas Hoult is reportedly in talks to play Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy.
Nicholas Hoult has been in superhero content before; portraying Hank McCoy/Beast in the X-Men franchise, from 2011.
The actor also auditioned for multiple DC roles in the past, firstly for The Batman movie, however this role went to Robert Pattinson instead.
Secondly, in May 2023; there were reports that Hoult tried out for the lead Superman role instead in Superman: Legacy, in which this has now gone to David Corenswet.
If the deal does get finalized, Nicholas Hoult could be the next Lex Luthor. Joining a list of actors to play the iconic role in live-action such as Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum, Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Cryer, Kevin Spacey, John Shea and Michael Cudlitz.
Recently, actor; María Gabriela de Faría has also been cast in Superman: Legacy, as a character called ‘The Engineer’. This character is also part of another movie in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios first chapter slate, titled: The Authority movie.
The Hollywood Reporter published an article that mentions Skyler Gisondo has been cast as Jimmy Olsen.
A writer has been hired for the spin-off to the Superman movie, titled ‘Woman of Tomorrow‘; which will feature Supergirl in a “big science fiction epic film”, as James Gunn describes it.
