Spyglass Media has lost two of it’s main leads for the upcoming horror movie Scream 7; as Jenna Ortega drops out of the movie and Melissa Barrera has been fired.
Melissa Barrera was fired recently from Scream 7 due to social media posts regarding her views on how the media has been covering the Hamas-Israel conflict, and trying to bring awareness to the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
The studio (Spyglass Media) disagreed with Barrera’s viewpoint labelling the actor an antisemitist for inciting hate:
“We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech”.
These are some of Melissa Barrera posts about this matter, that were on the actors Instagram stories:
Update November 23, 12pm: Melissa Barrera has responded to the recent firing “First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism andIslamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice ofany kind against any group of people.”, “Silence is not an option for me”, see the full quote in the image below:

It’s also being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Jenna Ortega dropped out of Scream 7 before the actors strike; due to scheduling conflicts, which would have coincided with working on the Netflix series ‘Wednesday’.
