Marvel Studios has reportedly fired Jonathan Majors, from being involved in any further MCU projects; amidst a guilty verdict of assault and harassment, in a domestic violence trial.
Majors is an actor, who was poised to be a rising star in Hollywood, and his career is now in a state of freefall, as an NYC jury has found Jonathan Majors guilty of reckless assault and harassment charges, in the third degree, against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
In a report from Deadline, a studio rep confirmed that Majors was dropped from Marvel, directly following after the verdict was decided. The actor was already dropped by his manager 360 Entertainment and publicist The Lede Company, earlier, in March, 2023.
Majors has most recently appeared in Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Loki season 1 and 2 as variants of Kang/He Who Remains.
The Marvel actor would have also been appearing across various multiverse projects such as Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Kang Dynasty. It’s unclear whether the film is likely to be renamed now, to something else and the role recast, or the character could removed from the future slate entirely.
It’s not the first time that Marvel has recast actors in roles, for example; Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle, and Mark Ruffalo took over Edward Norton’s role.
However, it’s not been done on such a large scale like this, where the character has a enormous involvement with him being set up as a big villain in Loki, and Quantumania making an entire arena credit scene; of Major’s Kang variants gathering together.
Jonathan Majors is set to be sentenced on February 6, 2024; in which the jail time could be up to one year.
Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars were already pushed to May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027. See more delayed Marvel movies here.
