In this article is everything we know so far about Marvel Studios Daredevil: Born Again series, as well as casting updates about the series.
The revival has been through development hell; with the series being delayed and rewritten, writers and showrunners replaced and an actor being recast.
Now, the rewrites have brought back more of the actors from the original Netflix series to reprise their roles, which will essentially turn Born Again into Daredevil season 4.
Since Echo was released on Disney+, Marvel Studios has been making it clear that the previous Netflix Marvel shows are also canon to the MCU; including scenes directly from Daredevil showing flashbacks to Fisk’s past. Also canon are these shows: The Punisher, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Defenders
Dario Scardapane; who worked on Marvel/Netflix’ The Punisher series was also hired to replace Matt Corman and Chris Ord as a showrunner. And Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead who worked on Moonknight and Loki season 2 will direct the remaining episodes.
The new series is reportedly expected to no longer be consisting of 18 episodes, and will likely be keeping in line with the Netflix series which consisted of 13 episodes.

Kingpin/Wilson Fisk – Vincent D’Onofrio
The Punisher/Frank Castle – Jon Bernthal
Foggy Nelson – Elden Henson (rumoured, in a report from The Insneider‘s newsletter). Update January 26: New Daredevil set video reveal Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll and Charlie Cox on-set, confirming both actors to return.
Karen Page – Deborah Ann Woll (Also rumoured to return in a report from The Insneider‘s newsletter). Update January 26: Now confirmed during on-set Daredevil images of Deborah Ann Woll entering her trailer.
Bullseye/Benjamin Poindexter – Wilson Bethal. According to a new report from ComicBook.com, Wilson Bethal will be back as Daredevil’s nemesis “Bullseye”; who last featured in season 3.
Vanessa Fisk/Mariana – In 2022, Deadline had an exclusive that Sandrine Holt was hired for a role, and then THR reported that Holt would be recast for Wilson Fisk’s wife Vanessa, who was originally played by Ayelet Zurer.
However, there is a new update in our article (April 7, 2024): Ayelet Zurer has reprised her role as Vanessa and can be seen on set filming with Vincent D’Onofrio.
Brett Mahoney – Royce Johnson was seen on set filming scenes for this show.
According to a US copyright filing from 2023, for the first episode; actors have also been cast for these characters:
Heather Glenn – Margarita Levieva.
Daniel Blade – Michael Gandolfini.
Kirsten McDuffe – Nikki M James.
BB Urich (Ben Urich’s neice or daughter?) – Genneya Walton.
Sheila Revera – Zabryna Guevara.
Buck Cashman – Arty Froushan’s character will likely be how Wesley was; helping to manage things for Wilson Fisk.

What happened to Kingpin?
At the end of Echo episode 5 on Disney+, Wilson Fisk tried to destroy everything that Maya Lopez cared about, in order to keep her under his control.
However, Maya was not swayed by Kingpin’s threats and harnessed her inherited abilities from the Choctaw people to cut down his criminal organization.
Echo also used those powers to show Wilson Fisk his darkest fears, which has an affect on the character’s development in future Marvel content.
Here’s why there will be a difference in Wilson Fisk going forward
The final scenes of Fisk in episode 5 reveals his intentions to run for Mayor; as a way for him to take a different approach for having power over the city, instead of being a crime boss.
Where was Matt Murdock last seen since the Netflix series?
Matt Murdock has shown up in Spider-Man No Way Home, however he was there as Peter Parker’s lawyer instead of being the vigilante. It was only until the She-Hulk series on Disney+ that Charlie Cox was able to suit up once again as Daredevil. The actor did make a cameo in Echo, however this was flashback-based, set in the past during Maya Lopez’ induction into Kingpin’s criminal organization.

When will Daredevil: Born Again release?
Daredevil: Born Again was set to release during Spring 2024, however to due to the recent writers and actors strike, as well as the changes during production, the series is now releasing on March 4, 2025.
