Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer online for the anticipated third movie titled Deadpool and Wolverine – directed by Shawn Levy.
In this teaser trailer breakdown is a discussion about what is happening in the scenes, which characters may be appearing, as well as spotting references and adding context from the Loki series on Disney Plus, Deadpool 2 (2018) and previous MCU films.
The teaser trailer opens up to Wade’s birthday party featuring Dopinder, Blind Al, Buck, Colossus, Peter, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio and Shatterstar.
How did Vanessa, Shatterstar and Peter come back in Deadpool 3?
During the credit scenes at the end of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson took Cable’s (Josh Brolin) time travel device to go around the multiverse altering events. The first thing Wade did was saving Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) from being shot by thugs who ambushed their apartment.

This situation is what seems to have lead Wade to retire from being Deadpool, as he has hung up his costume and now works as a Sales Consultant, to avoid losing Vanessa again.
Seemingly, Deadpool has also saved Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) off-screen from being killed by a helicopter, as the character is back in the new teaser celebrating Wade’s birthday.
Peter (Rob Delaney) is back after his fate was altered; previously he was accidentally killed by X-Force team member Zeitgeist. In other multiversal changes; Wade shoots Ryan Reynolds in another universe to stop him from taking the Green Lantern role.
Wade Wilson is kidnapped by the TVA
Agent Paradox

All of these changes to the timelines has alerted the Time Variance Authority (TVA) of Deadpool’s presence. The teaser reveals that Agent Paradox (Matthew MacFadyen) has kidnapped Wilson. Although instead of imprisoning him, Paradox is recruiting Wade for a mission when he says “This is your chance to be a hero among heroes”.
Wade Wilson is shown clips of the MCU

Much like what Mobius (Owen Wilson) did to Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in the Disney Plus series Loki; Agent Paradox can be seen showing Wade scenes from MCU films such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok. Although, this isn’t of his own past, present and future.

Temporal Loom art at the TVA
At the end of Loki season 2, Loki had to save the multiverse from collapsing by supporting the proper flow of the timeline branches at the centre of an Yggdrasil.

While both Wade and Agent Paradox exit an elevator at the TVA, there is a temporal loom which can been seen on the wall. It seems this isn’t resembling an Yggdrasil post-Loki season 2, and instead it’s the regular temporal loom again.
From all of these clips of this TVA shown, it’s unusual that there’s no characters from Loki spotted in this, who work at the TVA.
The minutemen suits are designed differently and the way the past, present and future previews are on TVs instead. It could be down to creative changes, or Is Agent Paradox in a completely different TVA to the one seen in Loki?
Sent to the Void
20th Century Fox Logo Monument

In 2019, Disney bought 20th Century Fox and now Marvel Studios appears to have pruned the 20th Century Fox universe of Marvel characters into the Void. Previously, we reported on this happening from set photos in July 2023.
What does pruning mean?
Pruning means that the TVA has cut timeline branches where alterations have caused that universe to deviate from the “Sacred timeline”. Sometimes it’s only one person pruned, however this can also happen to entire timelines.
Alioth is back
Alioth is back and angrier than ever, as there are TVA minutemen being eaten by it in the Void, while Wade stands there in shock behind vehicles with ball shaped cages.

In the series; Loki, Sylvie and their other variants had to face a dangerous entity called Alioth; that consumes all of the matter and energy in its path. They were able to manipulate Alioth to move out of the way from guarding He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). Although, Alioth still lives!
Cassandra Nova is a villain in the void

It appears this could be Emma Corrin starring as Cassandra Nova; the evil twin sister of Charles Xavier. If this is Cassandra Nova, then the character is likely leading a fight against Deadpool in the void, as there are those Mad Max style vehicles also spotted in the background.
Pyro Returns

Aaron Stanford reprises his role as Pyro from X-Men 2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Pyro is one of the pruned characters, among other characters trailing along the deserted Void.
Fighting the TVA Minutemen in Sokovia?

It looks like Deadpool is fighting TVA minutemen in the same snowy forests of Sokovia from Avengers: Age of Ultron. This may not be the void as this timeline wasn’t pruned, instead this is likely multiversal travel as he jumps through a Tempad door.
Lady Deadpool?

Prominently, this variant character Lady Deadpool/Wanda Wilson from Earth-3010 uses these types of Machine Pistols/Uzis to shoot with, as well as carrying Samurai swords.
Who could be playing Lady Deadpool?
If this appearance happens, there’s speculation from fans this could be Ryan Reynolds’ own wife Blake Lively in the role. It’s rumoured that Taylor Swift may be playing as Dazzler, although the singer could end up being Lady Deadpool.
Wolverine Variants
Patch AKA James Howlett

At the moment there are two Wolverine variants seen in the teaser trailer, although it’s not clear if Hugh Jackman will be this variant called Patch. Fans online are speculating of a few actors to play the character, such as Taron Egerton, Karl Urban and Daniel Radcliffe.
Patch aka James Howlett from Earth-616 is sitting at a casino table, to the right is a playing card dispenser and it’s not clear who the characters are to the left and in front of him.
It’s rumoured that Channing Tatum or Taylor Kitsch may appear as Gambit in this scene that possibly takes place in a city called Madripoor.
Logan/Wolverine

There was a very brief view of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine; using his claws to grab Deadpool.
In Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, there was a comically accurate Proffessor X from Earth-838. It’s possible that this could be Wolverine from this universe.
This Wolverine may also still be from the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies who finally got the yellow suit or a live-action version of the X-Men 97′ Wolverine. During a deleted scene from The Wolverine (2013) movie, a similar comic suit was revealed.
Whichever Wolverine Hugh Jackman is playing, Ryan Reynolds has previously explained this doesn’t affect what happpend to Wolverine in James Mangold’s Logan movie.
The Increbible Hulk and Secret Wars

While Deadpool is being attacked by Wolverine in the Void, there’s a quick easter egg seen of a dishevalled comic book referencing Doctor Doom in a cover of Secret Wars (2015) Vol. 1 #5 written by Jonathan Hickman.
In this comic, other characters such as Molecule Man, Doctor Strange, Nostradamus and Dragon Man also appeared.
A Pingo Doce bottle from The Incredible Hulk (2008) can also be seen next to the comic. The bottle is referencing Bruce Banner working in a drinks factory, where Stan Lee’s character in the movie is killed by Hulk’s blood that contaminated the drink.
Hulk’s bed features in the teaser

Hulk’s bone-shaped bed from Thor: Ragnarok also features in the Deadpool and Wolverine teaser. The patterned sheets are very similar in both images, apart from the setting that is more like a cave compared to the lavish room on Sakaar.
