First trailer released for Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 series

Marvel has released the first trailer and synopsis for the animated series X-Men ’97, premiering March 20, 2024, on Disney+.

It appears that Marvel Studios are bringing out as much as they can to distract away from the poor reception of Sony’s latest Marvel film Madame Web, which released this week.

The Deadpool and Wolverine teaser trailer, and then the casting announcements dropped online for the new 2025 movie The Fantastic Four and now this X-Men ’97 trailer released.

Official Synopsis

“X-Men ’97” revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.”

Continuing on from X-Men: The Animated Series (1992) when Professor X dies; the team are honouring Charles’ legacy with Cyclop’s plan to lead the team.

However, Magneto becomes the leader instead, with a shocking surprise visit to the group.

Jean Grey and Scott Summers can be seen embracing; as Jean breaks the news that she is pregnant.

Although, there is still bad news for mutants, as humans wage war on them, with hateful protests and the vote for The Sentinels to wipe them out.

Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Eddie Brock get a brief reference when their names appear on a floating Daily Bugle newspaper.

On the Daily Bugle newspaper, the general public seem to be losing their trust in other superheroes; as they begin to question “Is Spiderman a Mutant?”, the headline didn’t include the hyphen which could further imply the journalists that lack of care for the web crawler existing.

Who is voicing the characters in X-Men ’97?

The X-Men will also be going up against Mister Sinister voiced by Christopher Britton, and Bolivar Trusk’s inventions called The Sentinels voiced by Eric Bauza.

In the main voice cast are these characters: Rogue (Lenore Zann), Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), Beast (George Buza), Wolverine (Cal Dodd), Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith), Jubilee (Holly Chou), Cyclops (Ray Chase).

Also voicing: Gambit (AJ LoCascio) Cable (Chris Potter), Bishop (Isaac Robinson-Smith), Morph (JP Karliak), Nightcrawler (Adrian Hough), Sunspot (Giu Augustini), as well as Professor X (Ross Marquand) and Matthew Waterson (Magneto).
