On July 26, BBC and Disney Plus have presented a preview of the 2024 Doctor Who Christmas special, while at San Diego Comic-Con’s famous Hall H.

Actress, Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls) will be starring alongside Ncuti Gatwa in this Doctor Who Christmas special ‘Joy to the World’.

In this preview, the Doctor appears to be travelling to different times in Earth’s history; in order to find Joy. He visits The Queens Hotel, in Manchester 1940, Orient Express, Italy 1962, Base Camp, Everest 1953. Finally arriving at Sandringham Hotel, London in 2024. All while carrying a tray with a ham and cheese toastie, and a pumpkin latte.

Joy has booked a room at Sandringham hotel, when a Silurian walks in and leaves her in shock, and then the Doctor also turns up to the right room.

When is Joy to the World releasing?

Joy to the World is expected to be releasing on December 25, 2024, on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and Disney Plus. This Christmas Special is written by Steven Moffat, who also recently returned to write Doctor Who season 1 episode BOOM!

Is there a new Doctor Who spin-off?

In addition to this, there is also an announcement for a Doctor Who spin-off mini series titled ‘The War Between The Land And The Sea‘.
