Prime Video announced at SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) 2024; that a prequel series to ‘The Boys’ has been ordered.

Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, are both set to star in this superhero prequel series titled Vought Rising. And both actors are also serving as producers, alongside Paul Grellong as the showrunner and executive producer.

Also serving as executive producers on the series: Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr.

What is Vought Rising about?

“It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical manoeuvres of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V” – said Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong, at SDCC 2024.

Who is Soldier Boy?

Jensen Ackles was introduced as Ben/Soldier Boy in season 3 of The Boys, and he’s America’s first compound V superhero during World War II,  before Homelander ever existed.

Soldier Boy has the similar abilities that Captain America has; he’s got superhuman strength, speed and stamina, very slow ageing, and super healing.

It was revealed that he is Homelander’s biological father and it’s speculated that Stormfront’s DNA may have also been used to create Homelander.

What happened to Soldier Boy?

The Boys were hoping to use Soldier Boy; in order to defeat Homelander (Antony Starr), however this plan went sideways and by the end of season 3, Soldier Boy was taken again by Vought and put in a hibernation capsule, still remaining there by the end of season 4.

Who is Stormfront?

Stormfront is a compound V supe, who was introduced in season 2. She was once married to Frederick Vought; the founder of Vought International. Stormfront has abilities to manipulate purple electricity, superhuman strength and durability, flight, regenerative healing, and plasma manipulation.

What happened to Stormfront?

At the end of season 2; Homelander’s son Ryan lasered Stormfront in the face, while she was in the forest attacking his mother. She was later put on life-support, to recover in a hospital. During season 3, it was revealed that she committed suicide because she could not bear being rejected by Homelander.

Since this is a prequel, there will be more of a backstory being told about what they were really like back in the 1950’s.
