Cinema First has announced that National Cinema Day is returning in 2024; if you’re looking to see movies in cinemas at a lower price, the tickets will be costing from £4 for one day only!
In 2023, National Cinema Day brought in a box office figure of ‘£4.6 million, equating to almost 1.56 million admissions‘ by UK cinemagoers.
When is National Cinema Day?
As the event enters its third year, National Cinema Day is scheduled to be happening on Saturday August 31, 2024; the £4 ticket price is for all at all of the major UK cinema operators and a wide range of smaller cinema operators and venues and on all formats, including 3D, IMAX and 4DX.
Cinema Chains such as Odeon, Vue, CIneworld, Showcase and Picturehouse are taking part in the event to celebrate going to cinemas. And the press release states that a host of brands are joining this year to boost the experience including ‘Coca-Cola™, Millie’s Cookies, Bolt, Open Table and Day Out With The Kids.’
Iain Jacob, the Chair of Cinema First has spoken about this upcoming event:
‘National Cinema Day is fast becoming a Great British cultural event, sharing the joy and sociability of cinema across the nation. This year we have more support than ever, allowing us to show a fantastically wide choice of films at amazing value. Every year this event has got bigger, with more and more people sharing their love of cinema. We know that 2024 will be the best yet.’
Which films will be on National Cinema Day?
There are plenty of films screening at select cinemas on August 31 such as Alien: Romulus, Trap, Blink Twice, The Crow, A Quiet Place: Day One, Marvel Studios’ latest film Deadpool & Wolverine which has currently garnered $1.17 billion (£889.07 million) worldwide.
As well as family films to take the kids to including: Despicable Me 4, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Ozi: Voice of the Forest, Bluey at the Cinema: Family Trip Collection and Inside Out 2.
Cinemas are also re-releasing past movies on National Cinema Day such as The Terminator (40th anniversary release) Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Coraline (15th anniversary). Lastly for André Reui music fans; there are screenings for André Rieu’s 2024 Maastricht: Power of Love.
