Keanu Reeves is Shadow in first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer, poster and synopsis for the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie and Keanu Reeves is voicing the powerful anti-hero known as Shadow.

After two years since Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the third film will be releasing this Christmas. The second Sonic the Hodgehog film released in 2022, and garnered $405 million (£307.5 million) at the box office.

Sonic and friends plus with the help of a few villains are travelling around the world as they take on Shadow the Hedgehog. Jim Carrey is also back as Dr. Robotnik and he is looking more like the game accurate appearance since previous movies. Carrey is also playing a double role in this film as Robotnik’s grandfather.

At the end of the second film, Shadow awakens after being kept in a government facility and now he finally unleashed during this first trailer. The backstory about Shadow the Hedgehog was briefly shown and mentioned in this new trailer; he has experienced an opposite life to that of Sonic’s, and he has also lost someone close to him (a girl called Maria is featured in the trailer).

An over-confident Knuckles suddenly realizes that his abilities are outmatched against Shadow as all three then fight in the street with the teleporting hedgehog.

Krysten Ritter is also making a first appearance in the trilogy as Director Rockwell.

The cast is including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, newcomers Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter, with Keanu Reeves joining the franchise as Shadow the Hedgehog.
