In May 2023, HBO Max announced there is a TV series adaptation based off J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, to be in the works.

There has since been a writer, showrunner and director hired, as well as an open casting call to search for the next children to be in the roles of the iconic characters, once played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, from 2001 – 2011.

Francesca Gardiner was recently hired as the writer and showrunner, and Mark Mylod will serve as director for multiple episodes. Both Gardiner and Mylod previously worked on an award-winning series called Succession.

The Harry Potter TV series is going to be filmed in the UK between 2025 – 2026, and HBO Max has now put out an open casting call to search for the next child actors to portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Cast It Talent agency is looking for child actors between ages of 9 – 11; who are residents of UK and Ireland and the deadline to apply is by October 31, 2024. Full details for the open casting call is available on the Cast It Talent site.
