Peaky Blinders movie: Everything we know so far

There’s casting details about the new Peaky Blinders movie being made by Netflix and in association with BBC Film – directed by Tom Harper. Netflix has also revealed the first look at Barry Keoghan (The Batman, Saltburn) in the movie.

Filming began in September 2024; with the locations being in West Yorkshire and West Midlands.

This new gangster movie is an extension of the series which finished with 6 seasons in 2022.

The film will see Cillian Murphy reprise as Thomas Shelby, making his way through the country during war-time era Birmingham. Tommy previously fought in France during WW1, in 1915; leading the character to suffer with post-traumatic stress. Now, this story is set in World War II, and the Shelbys are looking to start a new life.

Cillian Murphy has not only reprised his role for the Peaky Blinders movie, the actor is also returning to play as Jim again, in the 28 Days Later sequel horror movie, titled 28 Years Later Part Two: The Bone Temple.

The Peaky Blinders movie is bringing back multiple actors from the series:

  • Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby
  • Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs
  • Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby/Thorne
  • Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg
  • Ian Peck as Curly
  • Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong

In October, set photos revealed Cillian Murphy taking to the streets on a horse, as his character Thomas Shelby. It seems like his chance at a new life is going to be disrupted.

  • Tim Roth
  • Barry Keoghan
  • Jay Lycurgo

Netflix revealed the first look at Barry Keoghan on set. Although, there’s been no details revealed about who Barry Keoghan will be playing, including no details about the other three actors.

When is the Peaky Blinders movie releasing?

Currently, there’s been no specific date revealed, although the film is looking at releasing sometime in 2025.
