A new Star Wars trilogy is reportedly in the works by Lucasfilm.
Simon Kinberg will write and produce the trilogy, alongside Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy also producing.
Kinberg worked as a producer on multiple Marvel films in the X-Men franchise, Deadpool 1 & 2, Deadpool and Wolverine, and is not a newcomer to Star Wars; as Kinberg has executively produced and written over 70 episodes for Star Wars: Rebels series, with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck. As well as working as a consultant on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Deadline got the exclusive about this news, and Mike Fleming Jr wrote that he ‘heard this will comprise episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga’.
It’s likely this will not be continuing on with the Skywalker story, and instead focusing on stories about other characters in the universe. There’s also no mention about who will be directing any of the movies in this trilogy.
Skeleton Crew is currently the next Star Wars project to release on Disney+, this December 3.
