Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story (film review)

Hunter King and Tyler Hynes in Christmas movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story

This is a review for the Hallmark Entertainment Christmas film Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story – directed by John Putch.

Holiday Touchdown follows a girl called Alana (Hunter King) and her family who love the Chiefs sports team. They have a magic hat that when they wear it the chiefs win. Derrick (Tyler Hynes) is the judge who helps pick the Chiefs fan of the year and this year Alana’s family have been chosen as one of the families to be considered. Will they win the contest all while Derrick and Alana fall in love

Holiday Touchdown is a charming film that gave me more than a few chuckles along the way. I ended up enjoying it far more than I expected to. One of the things that adds to the comedy is the clever use of comedic music, which complements the lighthearted moments perfectly. Some highlight moments without spoilers is when they find out the price for something, that scene was very funny to watch.

It was enjoyable to how Alana is never cold and Derrick is always cold but tries to hide it, this made for some more funny interactions he the characters. Hunter and Tyler both give good performances and have excellent chemistry together, making their interactions believable and fun to watch. I also appreciated how the script felt more realistic, with natural-sounding dialogue that made the characters and their conversations feel more real. I also like Alana’s boots and some of her outfits in the movie. I also found the plot to have a scene that was a little emotional.

The film is a lovely Christmas story packed with romance, comedy, and a touch of magic throughout.

That said, I think the film could have added a little more to the story. For example, I would have loved to see more exploration of the stadium setting and perhaps a few additional locations to give the story even more variety and depth. As the film had a very simple story, I would have liked more to the plot, but sometimes simple is good.

Overall, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is a magical and heartwarming Christmas film filled with humour and charm, making it an excellent choice for families to enjoy together during the holidays.
