This is a review for Paramount Pictures 2025 movie The Naked Gun; directed by Akiva Schaffer – starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
The Naked Gun is a stupendously fun return to the “Police Squad” universe and Liam Neeson delivers a great comedic performance as Frank Drebin Jr; his role is basically a version of Leslie Neilsen’s performances from the past films, with a theme of “like father, like son” sprinkled throughout, and this also acts as a fitting tribute to the franchise.

Pamela Anderson fully embraces the silliness of her role as Beth; nailing jokes left and right, and Anderson’s performance is perfect alongside Neeson, as their strong chemistry helps to bind the film together.
The jokes in The Naked Gun hit more than they miss; ranging from lighthearted and dry humour and to voyeuristic/vulgar jokes, which is in line with how previous The Naked Gun movies are.
It’s a modern take on the spoof genre of espionage and cop films, the plot doesn’t take itself seriously at all involving a parody villainous tech billionaires, it is ridiculously funny from start to finish.
To pick out some moments without spoiling too much, there were some hilarious scenes and plot points which were very reminiscent of spoofing what appears to be from Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Kingsman: The Secret Service, in addition to the typical cop comedies of the 80s and 90s.
The Naked Gun sticks to a comfortable runtime for comedy films at 1 hour and 25 minutes. It is great to see more spoofs of this calibre being made again.
