This is a review for the 2025 film The Doctor with Two Faces – directed by Tom DeNucci and starring: Masiela Lusha, Jonathan Stoddard, Stacey Dash, and Charisma Carpenter.

This film follows nurse Shelya (Masiela Lusha) who gets her dream job at a well-known hospital, the last thing she counts on is to also find romance.

When she crosses paths with a dashing doctor who is beloved among the staff, their subsequent chemistry is undeniable…and it seems she’s set for a happily ever after. However, unbeknownst to the nurse, her newly minted love is not all he seems; his bedside manner prove to be fatal… and his favourite prescription is murder!

The Doctor with Two Faces is good but not great; the strongest aspect of this film is the cast. Masiela Lusha was fantastic as Sheyla and I really felt sad for her character and wanted her to be ok. Jonathan Stoddard had good chemistry with Masiela and he was great at acting cool and stylish, while also other times making his face look evil and doing evil smiles. The plot itself isn’t particularly strong but I was engaged with it throughout, interested to see what would happen next.

The story had quite a few time jumps all close together, not years apart. Another aspect I really enjoyed was the music throughout the film. Whenever something bad happened, the soundtrack would shift to something that felt straight out of a kids’ movie, complete with over-the-top, villainous music. I’m not sure if this was intentional, but to me, it added a fun, playful tone and made the story feel like it wasn’t taking itself too seriously. I also enjoyed how sometimes characters would act more like teenagers especially at the start of the film, which helped make the movie more fun. The outfits in this film were ok but most of the time nothing too special, Once or twice Shelyah wore cool boots.

One area where the film struggles is visually. The budget constraints are pretty obvious in places. There are a few scenes with noticeable blur effects that were added to cover up production limitations and action scenes. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but it does pull you out of the story at times and makes the film feel a bit cheap.

Despite these flaws, The Doctor with Two Faces isn’t a bad movie. It’s watchable and I still had fun with it. If you’re in the mood for a small thriller horror but very easy going and not too tense with good performances and don’t mind a few rough edges, it might be worth a watch.

  1. dying pregnant nurse with full makeup, lip plumper and lots of lip gloss throughout the movie. Never a hair out of place. A little too much and unbelievable.

  2. Debbie, exactly. The female doctors and nurses all have too much makeup, including greasy, yellow foundation faces. How many doctors on duty wear haute design? Why didn’t anyone test Shela’s blood? So obvious, but then there wouldn’t have been a movie. With what he pumped into her, how did she not lose the baby early on? After my own too-long marriage to a narcissist, I couldn’t stomach watching this full movie. This, to me, is not entertainment. 💜🕊
