(This article contains spoilers for the finale of Peacemaker season 2).
Peacemaker season 2 has now finished and here is how the finale sets up Man of Tomorrow and the future of the DCU.
In the Peacemaker season 2 finale; Rick Flag Sr. is sending his ARGUS agents through multiversal doors in the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, with the help of Lex Luthor’s team.
The team encounters an Imp world where little creatures attack them, nightmare world which is a complete no-go zone, an Earth where zombies roam and the team is attacked there too.
There are two doors which are import to Flag: a black hole which Lex writes a note to Rick, stating it is ‘promising’, and then Sasha Bordeaux and Emilia Harcout encounter an Earth which looks compatible for life.
Emilia Harcourt is not aware of why Rick Flag Sr. is searching for through these doors, until Sasha informs her of the meeting Flag Sr. had with the U.S. government about putting all metahumans on this planet they now call “Salvation”; one big planet size prison. This is similiar to Lex Luthor’s plan of having a metahuman prison away from Earth, although was instead in a gap between universes. Rick wants to empty all of the criminals from Arkham Asylum and Belle Reve into this prison planet where they can never get back, they’ll have to fend for themselves with no government support as well
At the end of the finale episode, Rick Flag Sr gets his revenge on Peacemaker for killing his son, and he leaves him stranded on this Salvation Planet. Monsters can be heard in the distance, it’s not such a peaceful planet afterall! Rick’s friends also form the covert agency Checkmate.
Why is the planet called Salvation?

It is a direct reference to the 2007 – 2008 limited DC comic series called ‘Salvation Run’; written by Bill Willingham and Lilah Sturges.
These comics are where metahumans and other villains are placed on the planet by Amanda Waller, and this leads them all to fight over who leads the planet. The Rogues Gallery of characters, as well as Joker, Lex, Metallo, Bane, Gorilla Grodd, Deadshot, Killer Frost, Clayface… etc. As well as Vandal Savage and DeSaad is there. Although, the DCU version line-up is likely going to be different to the comics.
In the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film (which is a follow-up to Superman and Peacemaker S2); this would see Superman and Lex Luthor team up to deal with a bigger threat. Lex will have also have a mechanical warsuit.
What would cause Superman and Lex Luthor to team up?

Rick was asked if Salvation was just for metahumans and he said “most likely”.
It is clear all metahuman villains will end up on that Salvation planet.
At the moment Lex Luthor is in prison after the events of Superman. Luthor did a deal him with; that would see him be moved to a non-meta prison. The deal lets Rick Flag Sr. use his team to find the right door find the right universe for this prison planet. How long before Rick decides to send Lex there when he no longer needs him? He is only there to benefit him for now. Also, Superman wouldn’t agree with the government discarding people to another universe where the government could end up putting him if they think he has got out of line, and others such as any Green Lantern member, Supergirl, Hawkgirl and whenever metas such as Flash, Cyborg are introduced. The threat would be something that would endanger both the heroes and the villains.
What could be the big threat in Man of Tomorrow?
In the comics DeSaad is a genuis inventor of teleportation tech and and master torturer, as well as a follower of Darkseid and could be the threat with this setting up Darkseid later on in the Gods and Monsters chapter. DeSaad may have also been the one who made the Quantum Unfolding Chamber in the first place. Also Braniac could be another villain which threatens everyone, collecting entire worlds.
When does Man of Tomorrow release?
Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to release in cinemas on July 9, 2027.
