An official trailer and synopsis has been released for the 2026 horror film Scream 7.
The original creator, Kevin Williamson has come back to direct and write the screenplay alongside Guy Bucick for this seventh installment.
Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) are back once again; to take on a new Ghostface who is hunting them down. Not only is the killer hunting them down, Ghostface is going after Sidney’s daughter played by Isabel May, and various characters who get in their way.
The rest of the cast includes Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, McKenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons and Mark Consuelos
Where are Sam and Tara Carpenter?
Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) who was last seen in Scream 6, is not returning as the actress was fired in November 2023; for Pro-Palestinians views and voicing opposition against the Israeli governments actions in Gaza. Spyglass Media disagreed with Barrera’s opinions while the company conflated criticism of Israel with anti-semitism.
A year after this, on November 2024, ICC (International Criminal Court) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and now-former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch also accused Israel of genocide. Multiple genocide scholars including one of the world’s oldest organizations IAGS, has also since declared this to be a genocide, in a 3-page document.
Jenna Ortega decided not to return to the franchise and has since exited the project due to the firing of Melissa Barrera.

The franchise also returns to the house that belonged to where Stu Macher (Matthew Lilliard) lived. Although it could be seen being burned down by Ghostface at some point during the movie. It appears Ghostface will again be incorporating the current tech of this era, when it comes to messing with victims as there are robotic decoys, and there could also be AI use.
