I loved chatting with the lead cast Maxwell Jenkins, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Nikki Roumel, Ben Cockell, Jaylin Webb, Aidan Laprete along with the director and writer Rob Grant about The new film This Too Shall Pass is based on a true story.

This Too Shall Pass is a spirited coming-of-age story following 16-year-old Simon, who feels trapped by the strict expectations of his Mormon upbringing. Seeking freedom and self-expression, Simon rebels by crossing the Canadian border with his close-knit group of friends for a spontaneous weekend getaway. What starts as a carefree escape quickly turns into a journey of self-discovery, as each friend confronts their personal struggles and insecurities.

With a nostalgic ’80s soundtrack featuring hits from The Cure, New Order, Corey Hart, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, the film captures the highs and lows of adolescence, exploring friendship, rebellion, and finding your own path when the world feels too small.

The cast told me they were able to improvise during filming, although some of those improvised moments only appear in the deleted scenes.
