Four Agatha Christie films get a 4K restoration release

Geraldine Chaplin and Elizabeth Taylor in Agatha Christie's The Mirror Crack'd (1980)

Studiocanal UK has kindly sent us a 4K restoration of The Agatha Christie Collection.

Before there were popular modern murder mystery films such as Rian Johnson’s Knives Out franchise… Agatha Christie’s stories from the early-20th century have been adapted into films and TV series for decades and these stories continue to inspire the mystery genre, still to this very day.

The Agatha Christie Collection is now seen in a beautiful 4K restoration for these four movies in 4KUHD & Blu-Ray: Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Death on the Nile (1978), The Mirror Crack’d (1980), and Evil Under The Sun (1982).

These four incredible thriller films are star-studded with Albert Finney, Angela Lansbury, Ingrid Bergman,
John Gielgud, Peter Ustinov, Jane Birkin, Maggie Smith, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow, David Niven, James Mason,
Diana Rigg, Rock Hudson, Kim Novak, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery and Vanessa Redgrave.

The stories include characters which became widely recognized household names such as Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot.

Angela Lansbury starred in Death on the Nile, as well as giving an incredible performance as Miss Marple alongside Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis in The Mirror Crack’d; directed by Guy Hamilton. Lansbury left a lasting impression as the actress would later star as a character in a TV series heavily influenced by Christie’s work called Murder, She Wrote.

Poirot played well by Albert Finney in this instance of Murder on the Orient Express; directed by Sidney Lumet, and Peter Ustinov portrayed the character in the Death on the Nile; directed by John Guillermin and Evil Under the Sun; directed by Guy Hamilton.

There’s been many other actors to portray Poirot, although, David Suchet’s performance in the late 80s TV series was my most favourite Poirot of them all!

The Agatha Christie Collection released on November 24, 2025.
