Jingle Bell Heist follows a girl named Sophie (Olivia Holt) who is good at stealing things. At the same time, a boy called Nick (Connor Swindells) spots her on CCTV stealing. They then decide to team up and steal from a wealthy businessman who is not nice and owns a posh shop, all while romance blooms.
Jingle Bell Heist is a great film with a unique twist. It’s more enjoyable than the majority of Christmas films as it has more depth to the plot and it’s not just a simple romance film that most years always have the exact same plot. Another thing that draws you into the characters is that although Sophie starts off slightly mean to Nick, it doesn’t take long before she is nice. So, this film was refreshing to see a different take and this made you like the characters more. There are also quite a few emotional moments throughout the film.
Another clever thing about this film is on most films there is a big heartbreak scene or a huge argument that makes the characters leave each other but this film is different where the characters handle it maturely and it also makes for a sweet, heartwarming moment.
There is a scene where a character thinks someone won’t want to still be with him due to something he did but it’s easily forgiven and not dragged out into a long sad emotional few scenes. This was surprising and fantastic seeing a mature way of handling things and it made me enjoy the film even more. I liked Sophie’s outfits and shoes as she would wear more posh clothes while Nick’s outfits and shoes were just plain clothes, so nothing stood out but this did fit the characters.
Overall, a good enjoyable Christmas film with a great cast; that is unique and has more substance and meaning than many other Christmas movies. I recommend!
