Avengers: Doomsday is approaching its release this year on December 18, 2026, and this article is a breakdown of the four teaser trailers out so far.
The Doomsday teasers combined on various platforms have reached over 1 billion views.
There are over 27 actors announced to be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, from Thunderbolts, Black Panther films, Thor and Ant-Man films, X-Men universe and more.
Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Doom, back in July 2024. Although, his first appearance as Doom in the films was shown at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025).
In The Fantastic Four: First Steps first credit scene: Victor Von Doom appears to be seeking help from Sue and Reed Richard’s child ‘Franklin Richards’, possibly to heal his scarred face and he could also be kidnapping him for his cosmic abilities.
‘Steve Rogers Will Return’ Teaser

At the end of fourth Avengers movie Avengers Endgame; Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) returned all of the infinity stones to their proper places in the timeline, and then decided to go back to 1949 instead of directly returning to the present, in order to live a life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).
In this new teaser, there’s a focus on parenting, as Steve is now a father and embraces his baby son. Everything is going well for him at the moment.
To Steve, Robert Downey Jr. only looks like Tony Stark, he has that same face, if Doom were to knock at Steve’s door and he says “Tony?”, this would pave the way for his plan of deception in turning characters against one another.
*Avengers: Doomsday/Secret Wars Spoiler*
It was already revealed that some superhero characters will be fighting one another such as when Alan Cumming who plays Nightcrawler, from the X-Men movies, mentioned that he will have a fight with Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal).
*End of spoiler*
Incursions across the multiverse
There has been some mentions to incursions in the MCU, and everything involving this is leading up to what happens in Avengers: Doomsday/Secrets Wars.
In the Secret Wars comics, superheroes do also fight each other; in an attempt to save their world during incursions.
Mr Fantastic (John Krasinski) also mentioned Stephen Strange about incursions during Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness: “The larger the footprint you leave behind, the greater the risk of an incursion. An incursion occurs when the boundry between two universes erodes, destroying one or both entirely”.
An incursion almost happened during The Marvels film as well; when Monica Rambeau saw another Earth breaching through the cracks in space, and by the end of the film, Monica has ended up where the X-Men are on their Earth.
‘Thor Will Return’ teaser

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is worried and seeking a power upgrade from the gods to gain the strength to face his deadliest enemy yet: Doom.
By the end of Thor: Love and Thunder; Thor is now looking after Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter ‘Love’, she is also a cosmic being, after her resurrection by the entity known as Eternity. So far, that’s two cosmic children; Franklin and Love.
There’s no indication yet if Steve Roger’s kid also has cosmic abilities, his own abilities only came from the super soldier serum which has permanently altered his DNA.
‘The X-Men Will Return’ teaser

Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Cylcops (James Marseden) appear in this third teaser as the X-Men fight for their survival. The large Sentinels can be seen walking around as they destroyed the X-Mansion and killed a lot of mutants. Scott Summers loses control and he concussive blasts all over the place. Does Cyclops lose someone close to him? Maybe Jean Grey, and if they have a child?
‘The Wakandans and The Fantastic Four Will Return’ teaser

The Fantastic Four from Earth-828 have travelled to Earth-616. Clearly, Reed’s Einstein-Rosen bridge tech worked, and they were first spotted entering this Earth in the post credit scene of Thunderbolts*/The New Avengers.

However, They land in what should be an underwater kingdom called Talokan, except the water has evaporated?! Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) makes contact with The Wakandans and Talokanils.
In both X-Men & Fantastic Four/Wakanda teasers, there is an emphasis on loss: The X-Men have already lost so much due to the attacks on Mutants, Talakanil have lost their water and Shuri has lost her family.
What is Doom’s plan?
Although the teasers have not shown the antagonist yet… all roads lead to Doom attempting to manipulate the multiverse for his own goals, as mentioned earlier by getting everyone to fight amongst themselves while protecting his own interests.
As Robert Downey Jr. said at the comic-con reveal: “New mask, same task”, it’s apparent that his Earth-828 is in danger from the incursions or he is trying to create a new world.
Tony Stark’s mission was to protect the world at all costs. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda says to Steve Rogers: “Ultron can’t tell the difference between saving the world and destroying it. Where do you think he gets that?”, Tony’s thought process is what led to the creation of Ultron being over-protective of Earth, although he went extreme and viewed all organic life as a threat to the planet. This could imply that Doom’s thought process is similar where he also wants to “put a suit of armour” around his Earth, while sacrificing the rest of the multiverse to do it.
Are the Doomsday clock glitches timestamps from Avengers: Endgame?
Lastly, this theory has been going around across multiple sites, where the clock glitches could be relating to certain scenes in Endgame, which could imply what’s caused Doomsday to happen.

If these are timestamps, Steve’s teaser has 1 hour 24 minutes in the clock, this is about The One explaining to Bruce Banner of being chaos if the stones are not returned, however Steve did return them though, except he wasn’t supposed to stay in the 50s, maybe this is what set off the incursions still, as if their universe is out of sync with the rest of the multiverse perhaps?
If the Thor teaser shows the clock glitch as 1 hour 17 minutes, that would be in reference to the scenes where Thor and the rest of the Avengers have secured the mind stone, and the tesseract (Power stone), and Loki is also under arrest, Hawkeye mentions to Agent Sitwell, to be careful with the mind stone “unless you want your mind erased”. There is also another part where Ant-Man questions who the other people are and Tony Stark says “They are S.H.I.E.L.D… well, actually Hydra, but we didn’t know that yet. This could be hinting at Doom looking to decieve people about who he really is, and or controlling superheroes to help him with the mind stone like Loki did.
If The Fantastic Four/Wakandan teaser is the timestamp for 1 hour and 4 minutes, this shows the discussion for the time heist about where to find the infinity stones, and talk of going to space.
If the X-Men teaser is the Endgame timestamp at 1 hour and 11 minutes references, this references Thor struggling with personal loss of his mother and hitting rock bottom. Rocket Racoon motivates him to carry on with the mission. The X-Men have suffered signicant losses in their own timeline and will also need the strength to fight for their world against Doom.
