Grizzly Night – realistic gore & great emotional performances (Review)

This is a review for the 2026 bear horror movie called ‘Grizzly Night’; directed by Burke Doeren.

Grizzly Night is based on a true story film that follows a group of people at a nature park who are attacked by killer bears.

The film probably has one of the best cast of the year so far, with a bunch of talented actors who I’m a fan of, including Brec Bassinger, Jack Griffo, Michael Vlamis, Ali Skovbye, Charles Esten, Tatum Chiniquy, and more. They are all fantastic actors, and the cast delivers great emotional performances.

Grizzly Night focuses more on survival and saving people than on the bear attacks themselves, but the aftermath can be quite gory and brutal. The story does a good job of making you feel for the characters and scared for them, especially with some chilling screams you hear.

There is also a focus on lots of characters all in different locations with a variety of jobs. I thought this was a nice touch to the story focusing on numerous characters instead of just a few main characters.

The cast has good chemistry throughout. There are a few scenes that are quite shocking and emotional, with surprising fates you don’t expect. I thought the story did a good job of playing with people’s emotions, as you don’t know who will survive and who will die. The special effects such as the gore was also very good and looked realistic, which made the film more intense and believable, and helped the audience feel more involved in the scenes.

Grizzly Night had a few small issues that I thought could have been improved. The movie had a very abrupt ending, and I think they could have taken a bit more time with it, as it felt slightly rushed.

Overall, Grizzly Night is a unique film that I liked but didn’t love. It focuses more on the characters and how they cope and survive in such a dangerous situation rather than concentrating on chases, lots of action, or constant bear kills. I also found it interesting and sad that the movie was based on a true story, which makes you think about what happened for longer after watching it and helps the film stay in your mind. Even though it wasn’t exactly the type of movie I usually enjoy, I still appreciated its realistic approach and the way it showed the emotional impact of the events on the characters. 3 ⭐️
