Rockstar Games has yet again had their Grand Theft Auto VI game contents leaked online recently, leading to the company issuing a new statement.
In 2022, many screenshots and videos from earlier developments of Grand Theft Auto VI were leaked online, the leaker was blackmailing Rockstar, however Arion Kurraj was caught rather quickly and is now in prison.
Now, this hasn’t seemed to deter future new leakers, as there is another going by the alias “Cyberleek”; who has gone further to show multiple images and gameplay from within the past year or two. One example that proves the version of the game is from this timeframe is a song called Sport Car by Tate McRae, which is on one of the radio stations… this is a song recorded in 2024, however not officially released to the public until 2025.
It is likely that the leaker either has a build of the game themselves or someone is sending them clips who has a version of the build; as the clips have shown them writing out the word “Leek” on a wall with a gun, and taking requests on what to do in the game for money on their site.
Rockstar being one of the biggest games developers, made the jump early to go digital-only for GTA 6, ahead of Sony’s announcement where there will be no more discs made for new games on PlayStation in 2028. The leaker had expressed anger about the game not releasing on physical media, however at the same time promoting a digital coin for people to invest in, gaining money from stolen content.
There are two main issues which could happen: this Cyberleeks could end up leaking the story spoilers or potentially a build version of the game online which would cause damage to Rockstar Games.
TakeTwo Interactive who own Rockstar Games has already began legal action into finding out who Cyberleeks could be, by filing subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord, requesting the two companies provide the leaker’s details.
Ahead of the initially paywalled Netflix’ exclusive look of GTA 6 on August 27th (released 6 hours later on YouTube), Rockstar Games has ended up releasing a statement to address concerns about the leaks, and the considerably long time the game has been taking to develop:
‘We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time. We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has – from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know.
We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve. While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.

The leaks have currently caused no delays to Grand Theft Auto VI, with the game still scheduled to release on November 19th.
