Online retailer Zavvi has shut down today on October 12.

Originally created and Owned by ZavviGroup Ltd in 2007, which were physical stores and then became an online entertainment retailer selling physical media such as CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and 4KUHDs and merch has shut down, with the company going into joint administration effective immediately.

The Zavvi website has an announcement which also reveals ‘Chris Skey and Kerry Bailey of BDO LLP were appointed as Joint Administrators’, who managing customer enquiries.

Although, the company has warned customers they are ‘unable to fulfil any outstanding orders or pre-orders.’ and not to make ‘any returns for items of any kind’ or place new orders. Customers look to be facing more issues to seek refund as Zavvi is instead recommending that customers ‘should contact their bank, card issuer or payment provider promptly to establish whether they may be entitled to recover their payment’ and seek chargebacks

Why has Zavvi gone into administration?

A combination of financial cash flow issues, reduced customer satisfaction and business decisions in a tough competitive market. In early March 2026, Zavvi also started switching to a ‘Pay on order model’ which means charging customers immediately for pre-orders, a decision that clearly contributed to affecting customers interacting with their business. Before this, pre-orders for items on most sites are taken once dispatched.

If you are a customer, the company has created an email where they are using automated responses to share documents and FAQs about how to submit a claim: Zavvigroupltd@bdo.co.uk
