This is a non-spoiler review.
Prime Videos’ animated adult superhero series Invincible is back with the second part of season 2 consisting of the remaining four episodes. Previously we covered a review for season 2 part 1.
It’s another solid part to the season; episode 5 is an exciting return back, there’s very high-stakes and certainly the most shocking and violent episode to watch out of part two, with unrelenting action.
There’s also an interesting mystery in episode 6 to follow along with. I really like the sub-plots throughout this season which enabled more focus on other characters in Invincible.
Episode 7 was starting to seem quite sluggish up until a certain point, which does allow part two to breathe a little bit while delving further into the personal side of characters. There’s some fun creative choices in this one which I can’t reveal further. This episode does however pick up with a few cool moments.
In Episode 8, this finale is where the madness begins; there are many interesting and dramatic scenes with characters facing impossible odds. It’s fun and surprising, yet quite fast-paced.
Final thoughts
Overall, season 2 part 2 is a rollercoaster of violence and emotions, as it goes back and forth between these two. I really enjoyed the animation work in this, and it’s fillled with great voice work. All of the sub-plots across part two are fun to watch and 5, 6 and 8 are my favourite episodes from part 2. I can’t wait to see more of this story in season 3.
Ultimately, it would have been better without the four month gap between part 1 and part 2 though. The studio had already made all of it when part 1 came out and they should have released it all weekly to keep that momentum. It’s best to rewatch the first part and then go straight into these new episodes.
