Warner Bros. Discovery owned Adult Swim channel has ended their association with the co-creator of the animated science-fiction comedy series Rick and Morty.
This is following the domestic abuse charges that Roiland is facing, first reported on January 12 by NBC news. Justin Roiland was charged with false imprisonement by menace, fraud or deciet, and domestic battery with corporal injury.
What will happen to the Rick and Morty series?
Cartoon network has already ordered the next 70 episodes as part of a long term deal. However, the series will now go on without Justin Roiland from season 7 to season 10.
Update January 25: Hulu and 20th Television Animation have also ended their association with Roiland who worked on voicing characters for Solar Opposites and Koala Man.
The question now is… who will be cast to replace him? As Roiland voices both Rick and Morty, as well as various other characters throughout the show.
One most popular account; who has gained 2 million followers for performing impressions of Rick and Morty, is called MortySays (now Seankellysays) on tiktok. His voices are a close match to the show. Maybe Adult Swim will contact him.
