This is everything we know so far about James Gunn’s Superman movie. There has been gradual casting announcements coming out for the 2025 superhero movie, and in this article are all of the confirmed actors and further updates.

What is Superman about?
Superman (2025) tells the story of Superman’s journey to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and a brighter tomorrow, in a world that views human kindness as old-fashioned.

Milly Alcock has been cast as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl for the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, however the character is rumoured to appear in a credit scene for Superman.
James Gunn finally confirmed the recent casting for Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. This was previously leaked earlier to the press in November, before the contract was finalized.
“Yes, finally I can answer, Nicholas Hoult is Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy and I couldn’t be happier. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate & discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget. “But, James, we heard this weeks ago, why didn’t you tell us it was true?” Because, although we were discussing it, it wasn’t final until a couple days ago and I don’t want to tell you all something that isn’t certain.”

As this film features Clark working at The Daily Planet, it’s possible that there could be someone who is playing Perry White (Update March 1, 2024: THR reports that Wendell Pierce has been cast to play Perry White).
On December 6, James Gunn and his crew were also location scouting, and then filming will begin in March.
Who will compose the music?
Update February 4, 2024
British film composer; John Murphy (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Suicide Squad, 28 Days Later), has been hired to create the scores for Superman, as well as more music on set.

John was one of the first people I called when I finished the script many months ago as I knew how incredibly important the score was to this production. John has been working tirelessly since, creating hours worth of music that we’ll play on set and shoot to & use in the edit & that will eventually be recorded with a glorious symphony for all of you. November 10, 2024 update: James Gunn has revealed that Krypto will be appearing in the film, while sharing a new photo of Corenswet’s Superman sitting next to Krypto, on the moon. This version of the character is inspired by Gunn’s dog Ozu.
When is Superman releasing?
Superman releases in cinemas on July 11, 2025.
The movie was retitled from Superman: Legacy to just “SUPERMAN” and James Gunn has now shared the first official look at the SUPERMAN suit symbol.
